MODEL 02-00030 SINGLE BRANCH UNIT PBE's Minecom Single Branch Unit is a passive device used to branch off (one input, two outputs) the main Leaky Feeder cable into a side tunnel or another level. Single Branch Unit provide a balanced RF output with a minimum of a!enua"on and voltage loss through the branch and passes DC voltage from Power Coupler to amplifiers. PBE's Minecom Single Branch Unit u"lizes Minecom's proprietary Leaky Feeder terminal and saddle connec"ons rather than coaxial connectors (which can cause higher voltage drops and present challenges to installa"on and field maintenance). The device is configurable and provides the following se3ngs which can be selected during installa"on: • Passes both RF and DC to the branch (normal opera"on) • Isolate or terminate the branch (blocks both RF and DC from entering the branch cable) • Isolate DC in the port (blocks DC from entering the branch cable). Branch Units introduce some losses into the system ranging from 4 dB to 8 dB, depending upon the signal path and frequency. The Minecom System Design drawing (01-20000-05 for VHF or 01-30001-05 for UHF) should be used to account for losses of installed Branch Units. The length of cable would reduce if a second Branch Unit were to be inserted between the same two amplifiers.
